How Jeff trains employees 4x faster and strengthens bonds
Employee training highlights:
- Using video for training documentation is ~350% faster than text and screenshot.
- Reduces number of questions throughout the week with more precise training and employee info retention
- Surprise benefit of enthusiasm for how much employees like videos, especially those who are remote
Howdy! My name is Jeff Beaumont. I lead our support team here at Riskalyze.
One area we and a number of other support team members struggle in is in training which includes writing numerous internal knowledge articles with screenshots and step-by-step instructions. Not to mention continually updating them.
Instead, we've begun using Loom to record 1 to 7 minute videos to get everybody on the same page. It's much easier to follow those instructions, hear the voice inflections, and better know how to serve our customers.
For every recording that we do it takes 5 to 15 minutes. That same article would take about 30 to 45 minutes to write, edit and incorporate screenshots. At best.
Me and several teams have gone a bit overboard in creating new videos, sharing them with the team, and have received terrific feedback. Not to mention this saves me time recording it once rather than repeating the instructions several times each week. This creates team enthusiasm from remote employees in different offices which is one thing I didn't really expect to see.
If you're looking for a way to improve your internal training or while traveling to communicate with your teams you have to check out Loom! It saves me time, it's simple and onboarding is nearly nothing.
Quickly recording videos reduces anxiety, bridges a stronger team connection and it's fun and entertaining!
You should try it out. Thank you very much for listening to my story. For us thinkers here at Riskalyze, enjoy.
